Review: The Distance Between Us by Kasie West

11 abril 2016

HELLO!!! Well, you can read jajajaj that this is not a typical review in this blog. Months ago Saby and me do a English Review (like this) BUT... I REALLY HATE THAT because I just translated the review so I didn´t feel like I did a real review and I promised that I´ll do other review and I never do jajajaj UNTIL NOW!!!

Title: The Distance Between Us | Author: Kasie West |  Publisher: Harper Teen | Length: 312
«Seventeen-year-old Caymen Meyers studies the rich like her own personal science experiment, and after years of observation she’s pretty sure they’re only good for one thing—spending money on useless stuff, like the porcelain dolls in her mother’s shop.

So when Xander Spence walks into the store to pick up a doll for his grandmother, it only takes one glance for Caymen to figure out he’s oozing rich. Despite his charming ways and that he’s one of the first people who actually gets her, she’s smart enough to know his interest won’t last. Because if there’s one thing she’s learned from her mother’s warnings, it’s that the rich have a short attention span. But Xander keeps coming around, despite her best efforts to scare him off. And much to her dismay, she's beginning to enjoy his company.

She knows her mom can’t find out—she wouldn’t approve. She’d much rather Caymen hang out with the local rocker who hasn’t been raised by money. But just when Xander’s attention and loyalty are about to convince Caymen that being rich isn’t a character flaw, she finds out that money is a much bigger part of their relationship than she’d ever realized. And that Xander’s not the only one she should’ve been worried about.»

I´m so happy because this is the first book that I read completely in English and I´m so excited!
Well, I had to read a book for my English School and I was looking Anna and the French Kiss book because the English in that book is so easy but i can´t find so I listened that this book it have a easy English. BUT... That was the worst lie that someone could tell me.

This book is about Caymen Meyer life. She is seventeen years old and she work at her mother´s porcelain doll store. One day Xander Spence walks into the store and they begin this social experiment. Every week one of them have to figure out the potencial jobs for the other.

I think the principal aspect in the reading is that they are completely differents in the society and for me that´s what the book is about. They are two teens that fall in love but one is a rich person and the other is normal. And Caymen´s mother doesn´t like rich guys.

But...during this it´s happen something bad happen with the doll store. The store is in backruptcy and they have to pay so much money, money that they don´t have.
And a strange thing happens with Caymen´s mother. She is feelling tired but she say that it´s okay. Isn´t she?

More things happen and she meets more people. What happen when she realize that she and Xander are completely differents and meet someone that is like she?

I have to say that this book has a very difficult English. The principal tense is Present Perfect but then it combined with the modals. Present Perfect with modals ¿? It was so difficult to me to understood what wanted to say. Sometimes i really didn´t understand whole paragraphs or pages and I was very stress out.

I love read novels but with this book i just wanted to left. I read less than 20 pages for a week when I finish a book in 2 days.

Also the vocabulary didn´t help me, just confused me more. I just remember one word that i loved: Beckon jajajajaj (Don´t ask me why I love it. I just love jajajajaj)
At the middle of the book I didn´t stop to read because I knew that if I stopped, I wasn´t going to read until the next week. But the book helped me in that aspect because began the exciting part and the problems so I can´t stopped to read and finally I finished the book.

I have to say that I didn´t like the book because the topic is very cliche and the begining was so bored. But I liked the final beacuse it was very unexpected to me and so cool.

SCORE
Sorry buy I really didn´t like. Just to remember I´m stressing jajajajaja
And THAT´S ALL.
I really hope that you like. And if you want other review like this. I´ll be so happy to do.
BYEBYE

  1. This is really a very good idea, my grammar is not very good, so I don't want to publish something in english yet. But, you did it very well. I read that book a long time ago and I fell in love. It is too cute and the characters are great. I tried to read more of the author, and I did, but she dosent' convinced me. However, this book is one of my favorites of the genre.
